ArtForm: It’s Your Day! – With a Flower Garden 1

It’s your day, so let’s talk about you!

towell try 07

You are in this moment. Yesterday has passed and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Today is your time.

You are unique. There’s never been any one like you before and never will be in the future. No one else has your smile, your personality, or your determination. You are one of a kind, which makes you precious, beautiful, and of unmeasured worth.

You have a calling. You are here to influence the world you live in. Sure, there are the big names: Moses lead the Exodus. Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus. Florence Nightingale founded modern nursing, Neil Armstrong was the first to walk on the moon. Your purpose may have global significance. Or it may only extend to those you come in daily contact with. What is your purpose?

You are gifted. You have what it takes to accomplish your calling. Gifts come in the form of showing, telling, listening, working, writing, singing, healing …catch my breath…teaching, going, painting, caring, leading, praying, giving – the list doesn’t end.

You are responsible for completing your lifework. You are leaving a footprint, and the shoes you wear can’t be filled by anyone else.

You can do this! This is your time. Step into your world. Don’t shrink away. Don’t panic. You can be bold, because everything you need is yours, just for the asking.

“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” II Timothy 1:6-7

My spotlight artist is Tom Towell

Tom is married to Carolyn, and is a vegetable gardener and plant lover. If you drive by their home in Pocahontas, Arkansas, you’ll see his handiwork.

From Tom:

When I was just a kid, I loved watching gardeners and farmers work. I had an aunt who could make just about anything grow.  After Carolyn and I married and started our home, I always found a spot for a garden. I love watching plants grow, being able to start new plants from seed, being self sufficient, and enjoying the beauty of nature. I do it mostly for enjoyment, but also for staying fit and active. The eating of fresh veggies is good too.

I am a retired educator. I taught (mostly English) in the Pocahontas School System for 35 years with much of that time at the junior high level. I now work in the election process as part of the early voting staff and in processing absentee ballots.

I enjoy singing, especially religious music. I am the regular song leader at church. I also enjoy grilling, cooking, and baking. My specialties include fried pies and carrot cakes. I have a large pop-up book collection. We love going to the lake, and spending time with our children and grandchildren.

Please enjoy Tom’s beautiful flowers:

Very inspiring post. And I love that verse. I think we all have different gifts for a reason, and God definitely meant for us to use them to help others.

Also, those are amazing flowers! I would love to have some of those in my garden.
